Modern Slavery Act

At Motivo, we are committed to conducting business responsibly, ethically, and with integrity. As a proud franchisee of the Travel Counsellors Group, we share the group’s values and dedication to protecting human rights throughout our operations and supply chains.

The following statement outlines the steps taken by both Motivo and the Travel Counsellors network to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking, in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Modern Slavery Act Statement

Introduction

Forced or compulsory labour, human trafficking, and all forms of modern slavery represent some of the most serious violations of human rights. At Motivo, we recognise our responsibility to remain vigilant to these risks — no matter how small — within both our own operations and our wider supply chain.

All colleagues are expected to report any concerns, and management will act promptly on any issues raised.

We will not support or conduct business with any organisation or individual knowingly involved in slavery or human trafficking. The use of exploitative labour is a criminal offence and is strictly prohibited within our business and throughout our supply chain.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Motivo provides bespoke travel management services for business and group travel, specialising in corporate, event, and specialist sector travel solutions. We operate as a franchisee of the Travel Counsellors Group, an award-winning global network of professional travel advisers.

The Travel Counsellors Group connects a worldwide community of informed travel customers and expert, caring travel professionals who specialise in creating personalised travel experiences for consumers and businesses. Entrepreneurs use the Travel Counsellors brand, tools, technology, supply chain, and support to establish and grow their businesses — trading as independent franchisees known as Travel Counsellors.

Motivo benefits from and contributes to this trusted network, using the group’s established global supplier relationships, technology platforms, and compliance frameworks to deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality travel management services.

While the majority of our operations are UK-based, the Travel Counsellors Group also operates internationally through subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, the UAE, and South Africa.

We act as both a travel management company and, where appropriate, a tour operator. When booking travel services, we often act as an agent for third-party suppliers, facilitating direct contracts between clients and those providers. In some cases, we operate as a package organiser under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, with a duty to ensure that all elements of the travel package are performed to the agreed standard.

Our supply chain is global and includes both direct and indirect partnerships with travel suppliers and service providers. We choose to work only with partners who share our values and commitment to high ethical, safety, and labour standards.

Our Policies

At Motivo, and across the Travel Counsellors network, we are committed to acting with honesty, integrity, and transparency in every aspect of our business. We do not tolerate any form of slavery, servitude, forced labour, or human trafficking in our organisation or supply chain.

We operate under a clear framework of policies and procedures that promote accountability and transparency. This includes the Speak Up Policy, which encourages colleagues to raise any concerns or suspicions of unethical conduct at the earliest opportunity. We provide an independent and confidential whistleblowing hotline, allowing colleagues to report issues anonymously and without fear of retaliation.

Motivo and the wider Travel Counsellors Group also maintain robust anti-bribery and corruption policies and strict recruitment procedures, including verification of the legal right to work in the UK.

Supplier Compliance

Motivo adheres to the Travel Counsellors Supplier Code of Conduct, which defines the minimum standards expected from all suppliers. This includes compliance with the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and a commitment to ensure operations are free from slavery, servitude, forced labour, and human trafficking.

Contracts and supplier agreements include clauses on ethical conduct and compliance with modern slavery legislation. Suppliers are monitored through Travel Counsellors’ systems and processes, including third-party screening, reviews, and feedback mechanisms.

Where risks or non-compliance are identified, corrective action is required. In serious cases, this may result in suspension or termination of supplier relationships. Should any instance of modern slavery be discovered, Motivo would immediately cease working with the supplier involved.

By working in partnership with the Travel Counsellors Group, we benefit from the strength and reach of a global network that continually strives to raise standards of compliance and ethical conduct across the travel sector. Together, we seek to build relationships with responsible partners who share our values and commitment to fair and transparent business practices.
